'City of God' Directors: Fernando Meirelles & Katia Lund (2002) Portuguese w/ English subtitles

An international sensation on its release. The story of growing up in the favelas of Rio de Janeiro over a period from the sixties through to the eighties. 'Rocket' bears witness to his peers being swept up into a world of violent crime and gangsterism, documenting it with photographs. Enthralling film, great soundtrack too.
